Resentment
Since my comment from my brother the other day of wanting me to help him with all the calls he's getting from our Mom. I have been having a lot of resentment with him. Since I haven't talked to him in years my work with him wasn't truly finished. So I guess this is the time for this work. Especially with his message this morning of calling our Mom for all of her 3 eye drops during the day. I guess to him I am still a kid just sitting on his ass all day.

I don't know your whole story...but have you thought of getting counseling or therapy for all of your resentment you have towards your family? Just a thought.

I came in new so I don't have your family background to relate to, but where is your brother located? Same area as you or far away? He is older?
I know it is tuff when you have to take care of a parent....I watched my mother age many years taking care of her father. It is tuff.
I noticed you wrote you were listening to Chicago. Would that happen to be the NEW Chicago 30? Just wondered. If so, what do you think of it? I like it.

What is the phrase... "Just Say No"
sorry if I just jump in and don't have the whole story , but is he calling you to remind you how much eye drops your mom needs? If this is so, then resentment is caused by you not speaking up and just say:"I know" in a firm voice letting him know you know what you're doing and definitely doesn't need reminder unless he's asked.
You're brother will keep doing it because he can unless you put a stop to it..hope it'll work out through open & tactful communication.
Gem :-)
this entry reminds me of MY bother and i.
Though he's trying to manipulate you, Mike, it would appear that taking care of your Mom is a lot more difficult for your brother than he thought it would be. By bullying you, he's taking the spotlight off himself. But don't let this prevent you from making sure your Mom has all the attention that she needs. From our viewpoint, however, you are doing a great job! ---angel
From what you've told us so far, Mike. your brother sounds as though he's a very good businessman and provider. He's seems to be used to taking care of business... and maybe ordering a few people around in the process...but you have a big heart, Mike, and your Mom loves you very much. You're not "a kid just sitting on his butt all day." You do have a life of your own to live. On the other hand, you two brothers brought together from different eras, might just be the perfect combination.
Speak up, hon. He's used to filling that chair. As to the calls from Mom all day...those will increase too...just ask me, I know. ;) C. http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies
Your brother sounds like he can be a bit mean. But I guess having your mom not feeling good is also hard on him and you and everyone else. Just put your mom's best interest first. I hope it all works out. Your a nice guy who works hard.
